Jude The Foodie

There are years of recipes and lifestyle blog postings from my blogs JudeTheFoodie and MidMajorMom.com. My LivingSomedayToday blog includes many of these blogs travel highlights.

Cooking and family go together to me like pizza and beer. I was raised in a very food-centric home where my grandmothers and mother had their aprons on almost all of the time. Their aprons were like art smocks – someone still sells them here! My mom, aunts and grandmothers would come to a family holiday party with their aprons in their bag – they never left home without them!

Highlighted below are a few of my favorite recipes and some of my most popular. Most of them are my creations and I let you know when I am sharing one that is passed down.

I would love to hear if you try these recipes. And remember, sharing is caring!

Easter Bread – this may be my favorite recipe I have ever posted. I remember the day when my grandmothers collaborated on this recipe and can still smell the anise permeating our kitchen…

Ground Beef Skillet – MacChili – this recipe grew from one I began making from the back of a Kraft Macaroni and Cheese box. I love my adaptation and one bowl recipe.

Rich Golden Cake – from one of my first cookbooks when I got married! This has been my husbands birthday cake since then. This frosting recipe was passed down by my mom. It is so creamy and worth the time.

Potato Salad – this is my mother-in-law’s famous potato salad. It is wonderful in it’s simplicity. And a word to the wise – since you don’t eat this everyday please use the full fat versions of mayo and sour cream.

This sandwich was born in my kitchen with my son. He leaves the zucchini out but I love the texture it adds to each bite. Grilled Zucchini Caprese Sandwich

Shredded Chicken Stew – this is one of my favorite comfort food recipes
